Tree & Beautification Committee

A designated "Tree City USA" since 2002

The Tree and Beautification Committee supports the City in its effort to maintain and improve its urban forest and beautify the community. The Tree and Beautification Committee is responsible for planning the annual community Arbor Day celebration.  Both of these efforts have helped the City maintain the designation as a Tree City USA since 2002.

The Tree & Beautification Committee meets on an as needed basis.  Meetings are held at City Hall and are open to the public.

Tree City USA Program

 The Tree City USA program is a national program that provides the framework for community forestry management for cities and towns across America. Communities achieve Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards  of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and celebrating Arbor Day.

The city established regulations and standards for public trees along our streets and in our parks to ensure the trees are maintained and planted in a way that supports our urban forest.
