Airport Overlay zone map amendments and Land Development Code amendments related to runway shift

PROJECT SUMMARY:
Project ZC22-7 is a proposed Zone Map Amendment and Land Development Code amendments specifically regarding the Airport Overlay zones. The location of the Airport Overlay is proposed to shift in conjunction with the future shift of the runway. The shifted location of the Airport Overlay will affect properties within city limits and eventually properties outside of city limits (subject to county review procedures).

The Planning & Zoning Commission considered this zoning overlay shift during a public hearing on Aug 9, 2023 at 6:30 pm. No motion was made at this hearing and the item was continued for consideration at a future meeting, date to be determined.

A public hearing was scheduled for the Planning & Zoning Commission on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, this meeting was ultimately continued to August 14, 2024. During the public hearing held on August 14th, 2024 the Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the code text amendments and the zone map amendments.


NEXT STEPS:
This item will be considered by City Council during a public hearing at the regularly scheduled September 17, 2024 (6pm) City Council meeting. The September 17, 2024 public hearing specifically pertains to properties within city limits. However, you may have received a notice if you own property outside of city limits. The shift of these overlays outside of city limits will be considered by the Teton County Idaho in the future. In addition to updating the airport overlays on the zoning map, planning staff and airport staff are proposing code amendments which are intended to clarify the details of and restrictions within the various overlays.
