It’s been quite a busy summer in the Planning & Building Department. So far, we have received and processed the second busiest building season on record, second only to 2007 (and the year isn’t over yet!) We’ve also handled a higher-than-usual number of red-tags, or unauthorized building and remodels. Please refer to the Building Information & Application webpage , or give us a call, if you are unsure if your project requires a building permit. The building permit, inspection, and certification process is a matter of public safety and protection. We all want to be confident that the buildings we live in or visit are safe. 

The Planning & Building Department has also accomplished some long-awaited planning goals! First, the Board of County Commissioners has approved an updated Driggs Area of Impact, which will update the code, zoning, and planning documents in this buffer around the city. This update, which has been years in the making, brings the area in better alignment with the County’s Comprehensive Plan and will help the City develop and grow efficiently. 

City Council also approved an update to the Driggs zoning map in preparation for the airport runway's shift in 2025. This proactive update provides clarity for land uses moving into the future with the shifted runway.
