City of Driggs offices will be closed on Monday, June 20th in observance of the federal holiday, Juneteenth, which falls on a Sunday this year.
Juneteenth is an annual day of remembrance commemorating the emancipation of African Americans enslaved in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union Major General Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas, and announced that those enslaved were free.
Unfortunately, the City of Driggs scheduled a City Council meeting without realizing that the federal holiday would be observed on the following Monday. The City Council Meeting scheduled for Monday, June 20th at 6 pm will still take place.
The City will be having a proclamation for Juneteenth during this City Council meeting. Agenda items and Information on how to watch or attend the meeting and public hearing can be found on the City Council Meeting Information Page.
