Housing

The City of Driggs hosts and provides interim staff services for the Teton County Idaho Joint Housing Authority (TCJHA) until the TCJHA has hired an executive director (see job post, open until filled, here ). The City of Driggs and the TCJHA are committed to increasing the availability of affordable housing options for residents and are partnering on a number of significant projects.

Projects
  • Depot Square (Driggs) - 30 affordable apartments (30%-60% of Area Median Income) under a Public-Private Partnership, utilizing Low Income Housing Tax Credit financing, City-donated land, Urban Renewal Agency TIF revenue and an Idaho Community Development Block Grant.
    - Scheduled to break ground in May 2022 and be ready for occupancy in July 2023. Click link above for additional details.
  • Sherman Park (Victor) - 72 one and two bedroom units for households earning between 80% and 120% of Area Median Income under a Public-Private-Partnership Project on 3.39 acres at the southeast corner of Sherman Park (owned by City of Victor, which has agreed to lease the land to the Housing Authority).
    - A Request for Proposals will be released in early summer 2022, with construction expected in 2024 after developer selection, design and permitting. The project will also require a rezoning by City of Victor.
    - A Request for Information was released to help inform the final RFP content and ensure developer interest and project feasibility.
  • 175 Front Street (Driggs) - 40 three-bedroom townhomes or condominiums for households earning between 80% and 120% of Area Median Income on .62 acres at 175 Front Street (owned by Teton County, which has agreed to lease the land to the Housing Authority).

  • Gemstone Subdivision (Driggs)
    - City of Driggs and TCJHA are exploring options with the Karl Johnson Foundation, owner of the Gemstone Subdivision in Driggs, to develop affordable single-family housing on the 135 vacant lots in the subdivision. The preferred option is to purchase high-quality efficient modular homes that are inherently more affordable than site-built units and to begin installation of homes as early as June 2023, with both ownership and rental options for households earning below 120% of Area Median Income.
  • Teton Avenue Public Employee Housing
    - City of Driggs is exploring a partnership with TCJHA to install modular single-family homes and accessory dwelling units on Teton Avenue south of Lions Park, which would be available for rent by employees of City of Driggs or other public agencies and then to the general workforce as available.
    - City of Driggs is also exploring pilot project with the local nonprofit Sustainable Trades + Housing Partners , which is building a training and sustainable building program modeled on Community Rebuilds in Moab, UT, where construction costs are lowered through a variety of methods.
