The City of Driggs is reassessing its planned expansion of the Driggs Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) after the City of Victor voted in a special meeting on Thursday, March 27th, that it will no longer participate in the joint project and instead pursue construction of its own facility.

"Victor’s recent decision to pursue construction of their own facility represents a significant shift and requires us to reevaluate the capacity and design of our project," said August Christensen, Mayor of Driggs. "We are already working with Forsgren Engineering to revise the plans and will keep our community informed as updates become available."

Engineers recently completed a 60% design phase aiming to meet both communities' growing wastewater treatment needs. Victor’s withdrawal now requires Driggs to revisit key elements of the project.

Dave Noel of Forsgren Engineering added, "Forsgren is in the process of reevaluating the current and future flows considering Victor’s decision to disconnect from Driggs. We will modify the design components for the best treatment process to serve the City of Driggs."

The Driggs WWTP is a vital piece of infrastructure for the city and surrounding region. With Victor’s departure, the city will adjust its planning and budgeting efforts to maintain environmental responsibility and efficient service for ratepayers. The project timeline will not change.  The outcome of quality effluent meeting all requirements by the Department of Justice and the Environmental Protection Agency remains the same.

"Ultimately, I hope this change results in positive outcomes for the residents of both Victor and Driggs," the mayor said.

Further updates are expected as revised project designs and cost projections become available in the coming months. All Wastewater Treatment Plant information and updates can be found on the WWTP’s Public Outreach on Plant (POOP) Page
